The UK SONY 2CD version with the bonus CD of the Proms show And every indication is that the masters are lost or, more likely, were wiped.įacelift is, IMO, by far the best sounding thing on the album, even with the limitations of the live recording and the distortion of the bugs on the saxes.īut Facelift is the one that I know could have been at least marginally improved, since ALL the releases work off of a copy of the original, heavily edited reel (I know this because I have the original reel that Hugh and Bob Woolford created in my possession).Īccept it for what it is there isn't going to be a miraculous remix or remaster, no matter what they try and sell you. My ear tells me it's the original recording that sounds bad/ has distortion/ is unsympathetically recorded, and even if we had the masters, we could remix it, but it would still be bad sounding. There are marginally better versions than other versions, but they all sound really bad. It sounds like shit in every version that's ever been released and that ever will be released.
